This is the last day of 2021.

As I look back, I have a sigh of relief. Everyone has been through a lot.

I am excited about the new year ahead.

Having a new year ahead is a lot like having a blank canvas.

As I look at a blank canvas I think, what do I want to paint? What color palette do I want to use? What style, tight and realistic or loose and suggestive, what medium should I use?

Lately I have been looking forward to the new year. I have been thinking about my life, like a large canvas.

My thoughts have gone to the end of next year, December 2022. I ponder what I would I like to see. As I pretend to look back through the year 2022, I ask what did I do in 2022 that strengthened me? What made me a better human being?

Painting a scene or landscape is similar to looking at the end product in order to plan the road map to get there.

Artists start a vision with the end in mind.

Your life and your canvas is yours to create, no matter what.

No matter what happens to you, your loved ones, the weather, your body, or life. Every day is a blank slate, and the new year is a huge blank slate before you.
