In The Stillness

I noticed the afternoon sun striking the lone rose in the vase and snapped a picture.  This painting, It has a quiet, almost haunting beauty. The single red rose is so striking against all the muted grays, and the long stem creates a beautiful diagonal through the composition. The little dark shape in the second vase adds mystery—it almost feels like a flower that hasn't yet revealed itself.
